FLAMING SWORD BROMELIAD IN BLOOM
A striking orange bromeliad flower (Vriesea splendens) stands out amidst the green foliage of various plants. The petals have a flame-like, flattened appearance. They are a tropical flowering plant that can be grown indoors.

BEACH SUNFLOWER PAIR
Bright yellow Beach Sunflowers with dark centers emerge from vibrant green leaves against a textured, white sand background. These flowers both serene and lively, were found on a sandy Florida shoreline. The botanical name is Helianthus debilis. Also known as Cucumber Leaf Sunflower, East Coast Dune Sunflower, Dune Sunflower and Sand Sunflower, they commonly grow in the Eastern USA, often in sandy dunes as thick ground cover for erosion control.

MILKWEED SEED POD FALLEN
Found along a Cape Cod, USA cranberry bog, the milkweed perennial dropped their seed pods in autumn. They are an herbaceous, flowering plant named for their milky, latex substance containing cardiac glycosides or cardenolides, exuded where cells are damaged. The Asclepias genus contains over 200 species distributed widely across North America, South America and Africa.

Growing in Saint Petersburg, Florida, this Variegated Chalice Vine (Solandra maxima), also known as cup of gold vine, golden chalice vine, or Hawaiian lily, is an evergreen flowering plant in the Solanaceae family. Endemic to Mexico and Central America, it has very large yellow flowers and glossy leaves. The flowers grow up to ten inches long and four to seven inches wide, February through May.

BLUSHING BROMELIAD
The Blushing Bromeliad, (Neoregelia carolinae) turns red at the center when it’s about to flower. The flowers are small, purplish-blue and spring up from the reddish colored center of the plant. Bromeliads have a few thousand species with a variety of flower colors and shapes. Their simple leaves often form a spiral water-holding rosette. They are almost exclusively native to the tropical and some subtropical Americas where they thrive in moist humid conditions. Bromeliads are considered epiphytes; their small roots attach the plant onto rainforest trees or structures. Others are terrestrial, growing on rocks or other plants on the ground.

BLUE PURPLE GRAPE HYACINTH WILDFLOWERS
The grape hyacinth is one of about thirty species of Muscari that are originally from the Mediterranean and Western Asia. They are a spring blooming perennial flower, very fragrant, growing from a bulb growing wild.

A single yellow Xanthosoma sagittifolium blooms with its elegant shape amidst lush green foliage. The surrounding ferns create a rich, textured background that enhances the flower's delicate beauty. The Elephant's Ear plant has large pointed green leaves that can grow up to three feet and resemble the shape of an elephant's ear. The corm of the plant is a starchy part of the stem similar to a root and is edible as the common name for the plant American Taro refers. These tropical plants prefer part to all shade and moist well drained soil.

FLORIDA GULF COAST COCONUT PALM FRUITS
The coconut tree is a member of the palm tree family. The coconut fruit is classified as a drupe (stone fruit) with a fibrous husk and thus classified as a simple dry, fibrous drupe. They have pinnately divided leaves, the leaf sections arising at multiple points along a common axis. The coconut palm here is one growing along the southern Florida Gulf Coast.
