The tulip, a perennial, grows from a bulb and is a member of the lily family, Liliaceae. They are a symbol for perfect love. The name translates from the Persian word for turban due to the shape of the flowerhead. There are countless varieties which are edible and used medicinally.

TRIPLE CONEFLOWER ECHINACEA

A trio of Coneflowers (Echinacea), stand out against a geometric abstract background with circular patterns. Coneflowers are a hardy perennial and are pollinator friendly attracting butterflies and bees. Following blooming the seed heads attract songbirds, like goldfinches. The coneflower is used medicinally and as a tea. Coneflowers are drought tolerant, preferring full sun and well-draining soil. The Echinacea genus name is derived from the Greek word for hedgehog, echinos, because of its cone-like center.

Weathered wooden posts, remnants of a Martha's Vineyard Island beach structure, stand resilient against crashing waves, under a moody sky filled with thick, swirling clouds. The scene captures the dynamic interplay between the ocean's movement and the steadfast eroded pier or groynes (groin) structure, evoking a sense of nostalgia for a former seafaring way of life. With the passage of time the decaying line of wooden posts is no longer visible at the beach where it once clung to the shoreline.

SWORDFISH

A swordfish is seen swimming through vibrant ocean, the dorsal fin piercing the whitecap waves. The creature's streamlined, elongated body and pointed bill are captured in dynamic motion. Swordfish are blue to purplish on top and silvery on the underside providing camouflage in the ocean. They range in size from approximately 3 to 4.5 meters (10 to 15 feet). The original on gallery wrap canvas dates from 2020.
